BRADFORD GLITCH

Analog video, from the signal up. Your picture becomes a real NTSC or PAL signal, bent by period hardware and decoded by a TV that can lose lock.

Bradford GlitchEcho ghostsEncoder → Processor → ReceiverEcho 0.65The Processor repeats the signal a moment late, so every edge trails faint copies of itself, shown on a CRT.

One effect, nine devices.

Pick a device from the menu on each node. Chain a few, Encoder into Processor into Receiver, and you have a rack: the signal runs from node to node the way it ran from box to box.

Encoder

Turns the picture into a real NTSC or PAL composite signal, with sync, color burst and the faults a tape transport adds.

Processor

A bent video processor on the signal: detail enhancer, resonance, echo, chroma drive and loop feedback.

Switcher

A vision mixer. Clean mixes, non-sync adds where two signals fight for timing, and keyed switches that leak at the edge.

Receiver

A television that decodes the signal back into a picture, and can lose lock while it does.

Synth

A video synthesizer patched around the picture: oscillators, wavefolder, colorizer, scrambler and Rutt-Etra scan lines.

Feedback

The image fed back into itself: zooming, turning mixer loops, a camera pointed at its own monitor, or a buffer that drips.

Frame Store

The digital memory inside glitch boxes, read through address faults, word slips, tears and decaying DRAM.

Chroma Phase

Brightness drives the color subcarrier’s phase, so hue turns with luma and even white takes on color.

Bandwidth

What a cheap analog path does to any picture: wobbling line timing, smeared chroma and soft vertical detail.

Every preset, rendered.

All 59 presets of Bradford Glitch, rendered by the plugin itself on a shot from Open Road A (1951, Bethlehem Steel Company), public domain via the Prelinger Archives, at 720×540, shown cropped to fit. A wipe shows the preset left of the line and the untouched frame right of it.

Set a node’s Input to your timeline’s encoding. It converts the picture to where the effect was tuned, does its work and converts back exactly, so the look on an ACES project matches the same shot on a Rec.709 timeline.

The plugin’s own frames, re-encoded in your browser as each timeline stores them, shown without a display transform.

Above White

On an ACES timeline, Clip gives the effect what a Rec.709 clip of the same shot would be, so the look matches exactly. Keep lets highlights through and back out.

Floating licenses

In use on one computer at a time, and handed back when Resolve quits. No deactivating before you move suites. The Mac release and the Windows beta now; the full Windows release when it ships, at no extra cost.

Repeatable renders

Noise and drift come from a seed and the frame number, and GPU and CPU agree, so a re-render or a render node matches the frame you approved.

On a DaVinci Wide Gamut or camera log timeline, put a Color Space Transform to Rec.709 before the effect.

The license, in plain words.

The full license agreement is published before the store opens. Read the draft.
