Windows beta Read Me

01What the beta is

The Windows beta is an early Windows build of Bradford Glitch and Bradford Textures, in one zip. It comes with a license for either plugin, from Downloads in your account.

• It renders on the processor. This first beta does not use the graphics card. A later beta is planned to render on NVIDIA cards.
• It is unsigned. Windows does not yet recognize who made it, so it may ask you to confirm before you use it (see below).
• It has no sign-in and no license check. There is no Account group and no watermark.
• It has no end date. It runs until the full Windows release replaces it.

Windows: the beta now (unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen asks you to confirm before it runs; renders on the CPU), and the full Windows release when it ships, at no extra cost. We have not set a date for the full release.

02What you need

Windows

Windows 10 or later, 64-bit (x64).

Graphics

Any. Beta 1 renders on the processor, with or without an NVIDIA card.

DaVinci Resolve

To be confirmed: Which DaVinci Resolve versions on Windows the beta is meant for.

To install

Permission to change files in Program Files (an administrator account).

03What is in beta 1

Both plugins, with the same looks as the Mac release. A project made with the beta opens with the full release, on Windows or on a Mac.

Not in beta 1:

• Rendering on the graphics card. Glitch at UHD on a laptop is slow, and Textures can be slower. This beta is for trying the looks and checking they are right, not for speed.
• The Account group, sign-in and borrowing. They come with the full Windows release.
• Audio modulation, which is gone from Glitch on every platform.

04Install

1. Quit DaVinci Resolve. It looks for plugins only when it starts.
2. Unzip the download. Inside are BradfordGlitch.ofx.bundle and BradfordTextures.ofx.bundle. Each is a folder: keep it whole.
3. Copy both into C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\. Create the OFX and Plugins folders if they are not there. Windows asks for administrator permission.
4. Open Resolve. On the Color page, open Effects and look under OpenFX for the Bradford Operations group.

05If Windows warns you

Because the beta is not signed, Windows may stop to ask before it lets you open it. Which warning you see depends on how Windows is set up on that computer:

• Windows protected your PC (Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, a blue screen): click More info, then Run anyway.
• Open File - Security Warning, with the publisher shown as Unknown Publisher: click Run.

Both mean only that the files are not signed yet. The full Windows release will be signed. Download the beta only from your account's Downloads page, never from a copy someone sends you.

06How long the beta runs

The beta has no end date. It runs until the full Windows release, which is included with your license when it ships, replaces it. A newer beta may replace this one before then. We have not set a date for the full release.

07Reporting a problem

Write to support@bradfordoperations.com.

So we can reproduce it, please include:

• Your Windows version, processor and graphics card
• Your DaVinci Resolve version, and whether it is the free edition or Studio
• Which effect, and its settings (a screenshot of the settings panel is enough)
• A still of the frame that looks wrong, and the timeline's resolution

08The terms

The beta is for you and for the people you give licenses to. Please do not pass it on. It is provided as it is, it may have faults, and its effects may change before the full release. The license agreement has the details.

09Removing the beta

Quit Resolve and delete BradfordGlitch.ofx.bundle and BradfordTextures.ofx.bundle from C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\. For the Mac, see Install on a Mac.
